Background:Clowe started with the Rimouski Oceanic and the Montreal
Rocket, with scoring 25 points in 32 games with his first team. After was
selected as a Rookie by the San Jose Sharks, going to the teams affliate,
the Cleveland Barons for two seasons. In 2006, Clowe was signed to a
three-year, $1.625 million contract. In the 2006-2007 season, he was put
on the first line with fellow Sharks Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton. Clowe
is known as a tough player with his willingness to check and fight whe needed.
While Clowe has not had the offensive season he would of liked during last
years season, he has the capabilites to score when the opportunity presents
itself.

Background:Benn Ferriero was first drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the
seventh round as the 196th pick overall. Ferriero was a star player at Boston
College, earning Hockey East Rookie of the Week honors on Dec.12 and Jan 9.
By his sophmore year, he was finished third overall ib team scoring and second
in goals. He finished his career at Boston College considered as of the best
college players to beter the draft. He is considereda fiercly competitive player,
who will check anyone in his way. Since joining the Sharks, Ferriero has made
his presence made, scoring three goals in the pre-season and one in regular.

Background:Heatley was orginally drafted by the Atlanta Thraser in 2000, having
won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the top Rookie in 2002. After a car crash, he
was asked to be traded to the Ottawa Senators and become the teams leading
scorers. He set franchise recoreds for single season goals (50) and points (105).
He came to the Sharks this season and is expected to be a major offensive threat
with his fellow first line teamates, Joe Thornton an Devin Setoguchi. While Heatley is
coming off of his lowest points total since his rookie year, he did recored two assists
and his first goal during the pre-season and regular season. Coaches and mangment
expect him to help the Sharks get some more offensive stengh

Background:Malhotra was drafted by New York Rangers in 1998 and is a hockey
veteren. During his career he has played for the Rangers, Dallas Stars, Columbus
Blue Jackets and is currently with the San Jose Sharks. Malhotra brings experince
solid offensive and defensive skills to the team. Last season he scored 11 goals,
and registered 35 points. While he hasent had any offensive results from his first
three games, the new player does bring physical presence and offensive potential.

Background:"Patty," as he is know to teammeates, has spent his entire NHL career
with the San Jose Sharks, and is the Sharks all-time leader in points. Marleau is an
offensive and defensive threat, having picked up the ability to punish teams he played.
In 2007,Patty reached the 500-point mark during the game against the Phoenix Coyotes.
Instead of continuing his high scoring into next season, Patty's recored his lowest point
total since the 2001-2002 season, with just 48 points. The current season has, Marleau
renergized and ready to play, bringing his deadly combination of offensive and defensive
skills to the team. He has already scored three goals this season with a total three points.

Background:Torrey Mitchell has been with the Sharks since he was drafted by them in 2004.
He recorded his first goal on Novemeber 9, 2007, against the Anaheim Ducks. Mitchell brings
a lot to the table, with his great penalty killing ability, which he showes game after game. While
he has had great offensive success with the Sharks, his defensive abilities along with his great
penalty killing skills makes him a very valuable player to the organization.

Background:Scott Nichol was drafted by Buffalo Sabres in 1993, and has played for the Calgary
Flames, Nashville Predators and Chicago Blackhawks before being traded to the San Jose Sharks
in 2009. While Nichol has not been known for his offensive points, he makes up for it with his
incredible defensive skills and cut throat hits. Nichols did score 10 goals when he was with the
Nashville Predators and is second in the league for faceoffs won, behind Joe Thornton. Nichol
might not be the offensive light the Sharks need but will defiently be appreciated whe it comes
to his defensive skills.

Background:Jed Ortmeyer was a undrafted player, picked up by the New York Rangers, playing
only limited time becuase of health issues. Ortmeyer did record his first goal on November 25
against the New Jersey Devils. He would become a free agent in the 2007 season, signing with
the Nashville Predators for the 2007-2008 season. He came to the San Jose Sharks under a
one year contract. Ortmeyer is a big physical player that when healthy can be a offensive threat,
and has the potential of being of great player when healthy.

Background:This fresh face player has been with the Sharks since he was drafted as the 205th
overall pick in 2003. He has been regarded as leader, with wisdoma and advice well beyond his
years. He started his career on a hot streak, scoring 7 goals and 10 points in his first 12 games,
before suffering a leg injury. Pavelski has been a one of the most consistent players on the team,
having played in all 82 regular season games and in all 13 playoff games. Joe has been a offensive
and defensive threat since joining the team and brings consistnet depth on the offensive line. He
recently signed a three year deal with San Jose.

Background:Devin Setoguchi is another one of the Sharks youngsters and like Paveleski, has been
with the Sharks since he was drafted by the team in 2005 as the 8th overall pick. Setoguchi started
out playing for the now-defunct Crowsnest Pass Timberwolves of the Alberta Junior Hockey League,
finishing seventh with 83 points in the league. Setoguchi started with the Sharks for the rest of the
2007-2008 season, becoming the first rookie to score two goals in his first game. The offensive power
of the young Setoguchi is why he is such a key Sharks player. He is now playing on the first line wiith
fellow offensive power houses Joe Thornton, and Dany Heatley. Setoguchi has the much needed offense
power, already scoring three goals in the last two games for the Sharks.

Background:Jody Shelley is another veteren of the Sharks, and know as the enforcer of the team. Shelley
first started with the Calgary Flames, having been signed as a free agent on September 1, 1998. He never
played for the team but was instead signed again as a free agent by the Columbus Blue Jackets on August
17, 2000, averaging over 200 minutes in penalties a season. He came to the San Jose Sharks on January 29,
2008 and while Jody Shelley might not an offensive guy he is instead known as the the Sharks most physical
player which suits him just fine. While Shelley has the
ability to score goals while defending his teammates
the Sharks already have enough offensive players, and need Shelley for his shear willingnness to get his make
his presence know on the ice no matter what.

Background:Brad Staubitz was signed by the San Jose Sharks last season, playing in the Ontario Hockey League for
four years before being called up to the Worcester Sharks and finally the San Jose Sharks. While Staubitz hasent had
much off an offensive impact on the team although he picked up his first point for an assists. The young player brings
defensive depth to the team and has the potential to be a great offennsive player.

Aquired:From Boston Bruins in 2005 in exchang for Brad Stuart, Marco Sturm and Wayne Primeau
Background:Joe Thornton was drafted by the Boston Bruins in 1997 and played with the team for seven seasons before
being traded to the Sharks in 2005-2006. Thornton made his mark on the team, playing with intensity and becoming one
of the Sharks dangerous weapons on the first line. Thorton was made alternative Captain in 2006 and has held onto the letter
ever since despite having it briefly taken away by Todd McLellan last season. Thronton has had a major offensive impact on
the Sharks, becoming the leahues top scorer, with 96 assists and 125 points total. While Thronton has been questioned the last
couple of seasons, he still is a offensive weapon the Sharks need.
